OpenAI acquires Pierre Computer Company to make Codex the standard for agentic software development
On November 4, 2026, OpenAI announced the acquisition of Pierre Computer Company, the maker of Code Storage and the Trees and Diffs libraries already used inside the Codex app. The deal extends Pando, OpenAI’s in-house Git backend, and lays out a clear strategy: make Codex the hub of agent-driven development.
